The use of technology by commercial drivers nationwide is transforming the nature of the transportation marketplace and creating new opportunities for cost savings and efficiency as well as introducing new restrictions for drivers and carriers.  In particular, smartphones and on board computers have the ability to transmit real time driver and vehicle information to logistics professionals that has far reaching implications for efficiency, safety and profitability.

David MacLean, Regional Bulk Distribution Manager for Airgas, will explain the Department of Transportation’s recent mandate of electronic logging devices for commercial motor vehicles and how major national carriers and small operations alike are adapting to this significant change in the use of technology in the trucking industry.  In this talk, David MacLean will focus on the practical application of this technology “at the ground level” and share insights learned from daily use of these devices along with the wider implications of other types of innovations such as trucking apps and autonomous vehicles.

Agenda:
5:30pm - Networking
6:15pm - Dinner
