As presented at the APICS 2017 International Conference

Blockchain is one of the newest technologies for use in managing complex, multinational supply chains.  Blockchain technology can offer an elegant -- and relatively inexpensive -- solution to some of the complicated problems facing supply chain managers.

This presentation will help participants understand the basics of Blockchain technology and how to implement it, while presenting examples that illustrate where it can provide a powerful mechanism to streamline complex processes. Specific examples meaningful to supply chain managers will be provided.

The presentation will discuss situations where blockchain may not be the most appropriate solution, while proposing blockchain as a solution for some of the most intractable problems (e.g. conflict minerals, counterfeit products) facing supply chain managers.
